The Precious Blood of Christ
“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold… But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” – (I Pet.1:18,19).
Salvation is not for sale. Not Bill Gates or anyone else has enough money to purchase their salvation. Our salvation has been purchased for us by the precious blood of Christ on the cross. It’s by grace through faith. We have many of Satan’s ministers (2 Cor.11:11-13) in hundreds of churches who shudder at the mention of the blood of Christ. They call the true gospel ‘a gospel of gore.’ They describe the hymns that eulogize the blood as ‘revolting and terrible’ and they remove blood from the hymnals. They believe the blood is crude. They are antichrist. But God’s Word doesn’t say it’s crude, it says it’s “precious”. The cost and the infinite worth of Christ’s blood is shown us when it’s called “God’s blood” – (Acts ). It was the blood of Christ who was God incarnate. The blood of Christ is the most precious thing in all the universe because it gives life to all of us sinners who are under the sentence of death, both physical death and the second death in the lake of fire. The blood of Christ cleanses us from all our sins and gives us eternal life when we repent of sins and believe on Him and get born again. “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” – (I Jn.1:7).
The saved, saints of God sing out throughout eternity – “Thou are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation” – (Rev.5:9). The precious blood of Christ is the purchase price of our redemption – Christ has redeemed us to God by His most precious blood.
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Oh! Precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow.
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
The very bedrock of the New Testament is the blood of Christ – “And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it: For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” – (Mt.26:28). Jesus said – “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you” – (Jn.6:53). The very second you receive Christ as your Savior by faith you have appropriated His flesh and blood on the cross into you. You receive a new life, a new birth, and one day a new incorruptible, immortal body that shall never die. Being born again is your down payment on eternal life.
The blood of Christ is eternal life-giving blood. His blood will save you from the second death in the lake of fire and give you everlasting life. O, yes, the precious blood of Christ. Who is not familiar with the miracle of a blood transfusion? It’s the method of transferring blood from one person to another and there is literally a transference of life. We should not then think it strange that blood should be associated with eternal life given to us through the atoning bloody death of our Lord on the cross. It is written in (Lev.17:11) “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement of your souls: for it is the blood that maketh atonement for the soul.” All the millions of bloody sacrifices of animals in the Old Testament point to the one, perfect, supreme sacrifice of God’s Son on the cross which is atonement for sin for Jew and Gentile. “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement” – (Rom.5:11). Life-eternal life – comes from the precious blood of Christ.
Not all the blood of beasts
On Jewish altars slain,
Could give the guilty conscience peace,
Or wash away the stain.
But Christ, the heavenly Lamb
Takes all our sins away –
A sacrifice of noble name
And richer blood than they.
In the same vein, since the heart is the center of the blood circulatory system, it becomes the epitome of life. The heart is used in this way hundreds of times in the Bible to designate the total person. Hence it is written – “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries…” – (Mt.15:19). And sinners should “rend their hearts” – (Joel ) and “believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” – (Rom.10:9). Again – “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh” – (Ezk.36:26).
When you’re saved and born again by the
blood of Christ, God gives you a heart transplant and puts the Holy Spirit in you.
You become a new creature in Christ, a holy creature. This is the divine heart
transplant that I received on
We hear a lot today about blood banks. They
are depositories where blood taken from donors is stored for future use. When
an emergency arises in which a transfusion is needed, a call to the blood bank will bring
forth the desired supply of life saving fluid. How much more wonderful is the
blood bank of
We are made just in God’s eyes by the blood of Christ – “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him” – (Rom.5:9). Justification is God’s declaration that the demands of His law have been fulfilled in the righteousness of His Son. When God justifies, He charges the sin of man to Christ and credits the righteousness of Christ to the saved believer. Our justification is accomplished through Christ’s precious blood. Although Christ has paid the price for our justification, it is through our faith that it is received. We are justified by the blood of Christ through our faith. We are saved from the wrath of God through Christ’s blood – we are saved from hell and the great tribulation. Are you saved by Christ?
We have peace with God through the blood of Christ – “And having made peace through the blood of his cross…” – (Col.1:20). All the blood shed by animals in the Old Testament as a peace offering sacrifice find their fulfillment in the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Jesus Christ on the cross is our peace offering sacrifice. His blood was poured out as a peace offering. “Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” – (Rom.5:1). The middle wall of partition has been broken down between God and sinners by the precious blood of Christ, so making peace. “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ, for he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us” – (Eph.2:13,14). By virtue of His ‘peace blood’ He is the Prince of Peace and He’s coming back to rule over the earth in peace. We are all sinners that need to make our peace with God.
There was a veil that hung over the way into the Holy of Holies in the Old Testament temple that prevented all but the High Priest from entering. But when our High Priest, the Lord Jesus, shed His precious blood on the cross, the veil was split. We can now approach God because of the blood of Christ. All can come in for salvation, Jews and Gentile, not into the holiest place of the human tabernacle, but into the Holy of Holies in heaven itself. “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus” – (Heb.10:19). Have you entered into the holy heaven? Are you saved and born again through the blood of Christ?
If not, humble yourself at the cross of Christ and repent of your sins and by faith believe on Christ in your heart and you will find remission and forgiveness of sins. The blood of Christ represents the very essence of holy love. It is the drink that gives eternal life. It’s the key that grants entrance into heaven. It is the means of our justification, redemption, reconciliation, sanctification and peace. No word in the Bible more graphically reveals the purpose of our Lord’s coming to this earth. That’s why when Christ comes back in glory and majesty He will be clothed with a vesture dipped in blood. God has ordained His appearance this way because it typifies most clearly His work among us – “And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood” and his name is called the Word of God’ – (Rev.19:13). The Bible is written in the blood of Christ.
Take God’s blood test – are you born again? Being born again is the blood evidence of salvation. It shows that the blood of Christ has given you eternal life. Only the sinless blood of Christ is the blood type you must have. You can become a blood brother of all others born again into God’s family and be a part of the royal blood line of the King of Kings. Will you pass the test? – “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again” – (Jn.3:6,7). Receive a new heart and a new spirit and become a new man through the precious blood of Christ.
Speak to me only of Jesus, tell of His grace day by day
Tell how the blood of atonement, washes my guilt all away.
Speak to me only of Jesus, tell of His wonderful love
Tell how He came as a Savior, down from the glory above.
Speak to me only of Jesus, dying on
Speak to me only of Jesus, His name is so precious to me.
The Precious blood of Christ.
